Podcasts: HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast

Today is a sad day for me.

H.P. Lovecraft

Several months ago, I happened upon the HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast and have been hooked ever since.  I loved the fact that all of my favorite stories were read, dissected and commented on.  Many of the larger stories, such as At the Mountains of Madness, Shadow Over Innsmouth and The Shadow Out of Time, were put forth in a serial way and it was fantastically engaging for me.

I felt like I was part of an awesome book club.

Every week there are guest readers, sometimes full stories are read, often special guests who are involved in the Lovecraftian Universe and involved in the adaptation of the stories to other media are interviewed and contribute to the discussion.

On my way home today, I listened to the last of the podcast episodes dedicated to HP, his stories and collaborations. I even listened to the ‘end of days’ episode as an end cap for the original series.

So, I have been through 120 episodes of this podcast, and there are currently 277 episodes listed.  The end of the Lovecraft has not ended the podcast though!

I am excited to continue on with the discussions.  Reading through the episode list, I see episodes with readings of authors in the ‘weird stories’ genre and who were admired by Lovecraft or who were influenced by him.

It seems that I may have to subscribe at some point as most of the new episodes seem to be premium.  I don’t mind.  It has been so entertaining and so informative to me that it is worth every penny, and besides, why wouldn’t I support other artists?

Check out the podcast, it’s good stuff!

P.S.  If you don’t want to or can’t buy any of Lovecraft’s works, they are all part of the public domain, so check them out on this link!
