You heard it. I got nothin’. I have nothing to gather up and discuss on my photography or what I have learned this week on how to use my camera more effectively. I haven’t taken a single picture with my Sony.
Bad.
A.D. had a fruitful discussion at the table this morning over our coffee on my lament that I wish we had more interesting scenery to photograph. By fruitful, I mean a stern admonishment for not getting off my duff and making it work, ‘There are plenty of things to photograph around the house.’ And this is true. Take a look at our mantle:
Like a petulant child, I balked that wasn’t as much fun as finding a dirt road and a new thing.
He pointed me toward the website of Scott Norris Photography and the 365 Project and told me to go check it out. Immediately.
Reality is what you make it and my perception is often reality + excuses. I have a lot of excuses sometimes. Especially when it’s cold out and I’m under a lot of pressure at work. The latter is pretty crushing some days.
No matter the circumstance, we have choices. I won’t choose to neglect my day job, that is just not something I can do, but what I can do is choose make sure I take a lunch each day. I can choose make sure I post something each day to Instagram and Twitter. And I can choose to find a way to exercise a little each day. I have a lot more than nothing to photograph.
I can choose to do something or I can procrastinate because life isn’t fair. Wah: Insert emoji for cry-baby.
So here’s my plan: I know the value of posting daily to Instagram and Twitter and I don’t have time to write an essay every day for the blog, so I’m going to switch things up. I will do more on social media that shares the process of creation and less on the blog itself.
You will get to see more of me thinking and creating and less of a formal narrative. I hope you enjoy!
